The federal government recently enacted the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES), which provides emergency grant funds to college students via the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund. These funds are meant to help students pay for extraordinary expenses during the pandemic. RCC calculated CARES act allocations to students based on spring 2020 enrollment and EFC (Expected Family Contribution) range. Students who receive funds can use those funds to cover expenses including but not limited to food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, childcare, or other educational expenses.
