History and Impact

The Roxbury Community College Foundation supports the mission of RCC by raising money to fund scholarships, student support programs and initiatives, and faculty innovation projects.  

For fifty years, RCC has empowered the community through education that matters. As the only Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) in the New England region, we provide a nurturing environment where all community members are welcome, regardless of past education. We transform lives through excellence and innovation, preparing our learners for active citizenry and success in a changing world. 

At RCC, we are committed to making sure that every student in our community can afford an education. We take pride in having some of the lowest tuition and fees in Massachusetts and guiding students to a wide range of financial assistance programs that can help them cover the cost. But, too often, that is not enough to overcome the systemic challenges that impact so many students in our low-income, historically underserved population. 

Since its inception in 1984, the RCCF has distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in merit and need based scholarships, student emergency grants, and faculty innovation grants closing the gap between the College’s operating budget and actual financial needs.
