Roxbury Community College (RCC) and Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) are pleased to announce a new partnership that will allow RCC students to receive guaranteed admission into CCCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program housed at Plymouth Municipal Airport. A joint MOU-signing will be held on October 24, 2019 during Massachusetts STEM Week to celebrate and formalize the agreement.

The agreement, which takes effect January 2020, allows RCC students to have guaranteed admission to the program at CCCC and to take some courses within the program without leaving Boston.

“I am thrilled that CCCC’s renowned Aviation Maintenance Technology Program is now accessible to RCC students,” says Dr. Valerie Roberson, president of Roxbury Community College. “RCC graduates of this program will have access to job opportunities from regional and national airlines, providing them with a real opportunity at upward mobility, which is perfectly aligned with the mission of RCC.”

The AMT Program at CCCC prepares students for FAA Certification, and lays the foundation for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance, and transfer into a variety of four-year programs. The program is fully-accredited and graduates have moved on to careers with employers including Cape Air, Jet Blue, and many other national and regional airlines.

“As the only state college in Massachusetts with the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program, we’re committed to student access,” said Dr. John Cox, President of Cape Cod Community College. “This partnership with RCC will open doors for students, many who may not have considered a career in AMT or couldn’t travel to the South Coast for General Education courses. This is a great example of two college’s coming together to deliver a program, and improving equity and access, for our students.”

CCCC and RCC will formalize the MOU for the AMT Program at a MOU-signing at Plymouth Municipal Airport on Wednesday, October 24, 2019 at 9:00 am. CCCC President John Cox and RCC President Valerie Roberson will sign the MOU on behalf of the institutions.

Note to Editors: CCCC President John Cox, RCC President Valerie Roberson and CCCC AMT students will be available for interviews after the MOU signing.
